I would like to speak with you for a moment about ….fear.
Do you fear God? It is a question much maligned in this hour by the professing church of Jesus Christ. “We shouldn’t be afraid of God!” or, “That just means reverence!”
Direct Biblical commands seem to be irrelevant in this antinomian age.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13
And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
Luke 12:4-5
These two words, in the Hebrew and in the Greek mean basically the same thing. Look them up. It is obvious what is meant here. Jesus puts it in context doesn’t he?
The so-called church ignores or redefines most Bible doctrine, so why should this one be any different?
This lack of fear has been so obvious in our recent evangelistic outings.
We recently went to the Acquire The Fire event at the Baton Rouge River Center.
It was awful! Acquire The Fire is a ‘ministry’ that attempts to attract young people to Christianity by using rock-n-roll music. Oh, they tag on so-called “Christian” lyrics, (some of those are doubtful even: see my pastor’s dissertation on Contemporary Christian Music) but the music is still fleshly, worldly, and demonic. After all rap is rap. There is no sanctifying rebellion!
